Vice City ads explode across Miami, and plenty of them are pure innuendo

Rockstar has filled Miami's digital street kiosks with ads for GTA 6's fake brands, and many come with the trademark Rockstar innuendo: Pfister wants you to "Go topless!", Kronos tells you to "Always come early" and Kowalski promises that "Suddenly you are big enough". They run between real ads, without the word GTA anywhere, and Wynwood locals have been snapping them on their phones since 19 October. We went through the videos and photos doing the rounds to put together every one spotted so far, street by street.

Where have the GTA 6 ads appeared in Miami?

On the digital info kiosks that line the sidewalks of Wynwood, Miami's mural district. They're tall touchscreens that show a map of the neighbourhood and cycle through ads. In between the real ones, a Vice City ad shows up.

The first to sound the alarm was Joel Franco, the Miami content creator who has spent weeks documenting the campaign. On 19 October he posted a video of every ad that played on a kiosk on NW 26th Street: "They were mixed in with real ads," he said, laughing.

All the GTA 6 ads I saw on a kiosk in Wynwood (Miami). These shuffled between real ads 😂

More followed on NW 2nd Avenue and Miami Avenue, and Creative Bloq summed it up well: authentic enough to pass for real at a glance. The only giveaways are the Vice City logo in one corner and a QR code.

Which ads are the double entendres?

The most shared ones, and for good reason. It's classic GTA humour, now on a real sidewalk:

  • Pfister, "Go topless!", over a Comet S2 Cabriolet convertible at sunset. Pfister is the series' Porsche.
  • Kronos, "Always come early", with a luxury watch front and centre. No explanation needed.
  • Kowalski, "Suddenly you are big enough", for a jeweller whose logo looks a lot like Swarovski's.
  • Grotti, "Puts the sex in drive", for the Itali RSX sports car. Grotti is GTA's Ferrari.
  • Big Chug, "Suck on these at 24/7", with a giant soda cup from 24/7, the game's 7-Eleven.
  • Vapid Sandking, "Truck like a man", with the red pickup that spoofs big American trucks.

Which radio stations, clubs and shows are being advertised?

This is the part that says the most about the game, because these are hints of what we'll find in Leonida:

  • Vice City FM, with the tagline "Take it back. Non-stop 80's": the eighties around the clock.
  • Cocoteo FM, "Música pa' calentarse" ("music to warm you up"), with pink palm trees and two coconuts in sunglasses.
  • Dirty South Classics, "Classics that make you bounce!", with a gold-filled grin: Southern hip-hop classics.
  • A rock poster with a punk-crested bird and the line "Circling the carcass of rock".
  • Megamundo, the game's Telemundo, with two ads: "¡Give me amor, Megamundo!" and the telenovela El destino extiende sus alas ("Destiny spreads its wings").
  • Macca & Friends, the kids' show starring Macca the alligator, with its premiere notice: "Coming November 19 on Weazel".
  • Weazel News, the series' Fox News, with two anchors and the slogan "Fact yourself."
  • Two nightclubs: The Vault, "Your secrets are safe with us", and VYB, "Vice City's hottest night club. What will you catch?".

Some of these we already knew: Rockstar confirmed the first radio stations and their hosts weeks ago, and Macca is the star of the Collector's Edition box. What's new is seeing them with their own taglines and artwork.

What about the other brands?

There are more, with less bite but instantly recognisable to anyone who's played GTA V:

  • Coil, GTA's Tesla, with "Kick gas": the electric Coil Raiden among lightning bolts.
  • Eris, the series' Nike, with "The slow die fast".
  • Sprunk, the same old green soda, with "The essence of life".
  • eCola, "Spread love, spread eCola".
  • Fashion from Ferruccio Tucci and the Zenith Gym.
  • And the pure branding ones: "Welcome to Vice City" and an "I ♥ VC".

According to VGC, the city's screens have also shown the radio station Chamber 106.6, tech brand Fruit (GTA's Apple) and the Y Hotel.

What else has Rockstar set up in Miami?

The kiosks are just one piece. According to VGC, buses and taxis already carry Vice City branding, The Vault nightclub is advertised on screens aboard boats off Miami Beach, and Pißwasser and Patriot beers have posters outside some bars. We've been covering it as it happens: the game's beers in real life, the blimp and Vice City cars on the streets, the Miami Beach chairs and the Burger Shot and Cluckin' Bell at the Heat's arena.

And there's more to come: on 18 November, the night before launch, the Heat will play rebranded as a Vice City team. If you're walking through Wynwood before then, keep an eye on the kiosks: the next ad could be from Vice City.
