Leonida map

Leonida is GTA 6's fictional state, inspired by Florida. Rockstar has confirmed six major regions, with Vice City as its big city, and according to Rockstar North the map is twice the size of GTA V's. Pick a region to see what inspired it and what has been shown of it.

The 6 regions of Leonida

Vice City

Real-world inspiration: Miami

Vice City

Vice City returns for the first time since 2006, this time in the present day. It is Rockstar's Miami: white-sand beaches, art deco buildings, yachts, clubs and very different neighbourhoods. According to Rockstar North, the city alone is twice the size of Los Santos, and much of what the trailers have shown takes place there.

Leonida Keys

Real-world inspiration: Florida Keys

Leonida Keys

South of Vice City lies a chain of islands linked by bridges over the sea. It is Jason Duval's home turf at the start of the story: he lives there, on a property owned by smuggler Brian Heder, and that is where his first jobs begin. Boats, seaplanes and fishing are part of the landscape.

Grassrivers

Real-world inspiration: Everglades

Grassrivers

Grassrivers recreates the Everglades: miles of grass and water, mangroves and plenty of wildlife, with alligators front and centre. The Extended Look shows the protagonists crossing it by airboat, and it is one of the most striking natural settings on the map.

Ambrosia

Real-world inspiration: Inland Florida

Ambrosia

Away from the coast, Ambrosia shows Leonida's less touristy side: factories, smokestacks, back roads and working-class towns. Its official postcard shows it at sunset among industrial smoke, in clear contrast to Vice City's glamour.

Mount Kalaga

Real-world inspiration: North Florida parks

Mount Kalaga

Mount Kalaga National Park is Leonida's great natural area: dense forests, rivers, rocks and wildlife, far from the noise of the city. Rockstar presents it as a national park, the quiet counterpoint to Vice City's streets.

Port Gellhorn

Real-world inspiration: Gulf Coast

Port Gellhorn

On the Gulf Coast, Port Gellhorn is a town of docks, warehouses, railway tracks and roadside motels. Its official postcard shows it at night under storm clouds: a gritty, working-class place and fertile ground for crime.
