On 27 August 2026, Rockstar Games premiered Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look on Netflix, a roughly 26-minute presentation captured on PS5 with Jason and Lucia in missions and the open world. What is the GTA 6 Extended Look?

It is a long-form presentation of the game that Rockstar produced with Netflix. According to the company, it was captured entirely from in-game footage on PlayStation 5 and mixes trailer-style montages with longer story scenes.

Netflix had it exclusively for six hours. It then arrived on Rockstar's YouTube channel and the game's official website, where it can also be downloaded in 4K.

The story: first jobs and new allies

The video opens with the couple's life before everything goes wrong. Brian Heder, the veteran smuggler from the Keys, hands Jason his first jobs, and we soon see Jason and Lucia in bandanas holding up gas stations and even a waffle restaurant.

Another standout moment is an escape with Raul Bautista: Lucia drives while Jason and Raul shoot at the police cars chasing them. Cal Hampton, Jason's friend, also appears in calmer scenes. You can find their profiles in our GTA 6 characters section.

The presentation makes the tone clear: a couple risking everything to get ahead, with everyday moments (holding hands, teasing each other, looking out for each other) between jobs.

Leonida's open world

A good chunk of the video is a showcase of what you can do outside missions:

  • Cross the swamps by airboat, paddle a kayak or jump on a jet ski.
  • Lift weights at the gym or shoot hoops at home.
  • Car racing, scuba diving and skydiving.
  • Club nights and Vice City nightlife.

All of it with streets full of people, something Rockstar stresses: every pedestrian looks different and crowds are denser than ever in the series.

A premiere that broke Netflix and Twitch

The hype was such that Netflix and Twitch went down under the demand at launch. In its first week, the special was Netflix's most-watched English-language title in 87 countries and passed 31 million views in its first four days.

Where to watch the GTA 6 Extended Look

You can watch it for free on Rockstar Games' YouTube channel and on the official Grand Theft Auto VI website, as well as on Netflix if you have a subscription. Rockstar also offers a downloadable 4K version.
