What Rockstar has actually confirmed about GTA 6, and what's still smoke

GTA 6's release date, price, platforms and soundtrack are confirmed; a PC version, 60 fps and the new GTA Online are not. With launch less than two months away there is so much information going around that it is hard to tell official facts from leaks, so in this guide we separate what Rockstar Games and Take-Two have confirmed from what is still rumour.

Some of these deserve context. The 30fps figure comes from Rob Nelson, head of development at Rockstar North, during a studio visit in August 2026: the game runs that way "for now", and Rockstar has neither promised nor ruled out a 60fps mode. Around the same time, Rockstar said GTA 6 will have no microtransactions and no generative AI content at launch.

Will GTA Online be available at launch?

This is the big unknown. Rockstar has not detailed what GTA 6's online component will look like or when it will arrive, and its comments on microtransactions refer to the game at launch. For reference, GTA Online arrived in GTA V two weeks after release, on 1 October 2013.

The leaks: what happened and why you should be careful

GTA 6 has suffered two major leaks:

  • September 2022: a hacker posted around 90 videos from a very early build. Rockstar confirmed the breach and the person responsible was arrested in the UK.
  • August 2026: from 18 August, a user or group calling itself CyberLeek published gameplay videos and what appear to be images of the map. Rockstar described the leaks as "heartbreaking" for its team and has had the material taken down.

Price: from $100 rumours to the official figure

For months there was speculation that GTA 6 would cost 100 dollars or euros. When pre-orders opened, Rockstar set €79.99 / $79.99 for the Standard Edition; the €99.99 / $99.99 price is for the Ultimate Edition, which adds vehicles, weapons, clothing and extra content. Every pre-order made before 20 November includes the Vintage Vice City Pack.
