Franklin, Michael and CJ already have advice for the actors behind Jason and Lucia
The actors behind Franklin, Michael and CJ already have advice for whoever plays Jason and Lucia in GTA 6: listen to Rockstar, get ready for what's coming and genuinely appreciate the fans. Shawn Fonteno, Ned Luke and Young Maylay said it in an interview with All Out Gaming at MCM Comic Con, picked up by IGN. Here's what each of them said, where Trevor fits into all this and what we know about Jason and Lucia's actors three weeks before launch.

What advice do the GTA 5 actors give?
Three pieces, and pretty different ones. The shortest came from Young Maylay, the voice of CJ in GTA: San Andreas: "Have fun."
Shawn Fonteno, Franklin in GTA 5, got straight to the point: "To be honest, just listen to what Rockstar says. They're gonna lead you in the right direction." And he added a warning that sounds like it comes from experience: "Get ready. That's all I can say, is get ready. It's a ride that they're gonna be on for a while."
Ned Luke, who gave Michael De Santa his face and voice, went with the fans: "Just make sure that you appreciate the fans. Fake appreciation, they can smell it. You have to really appreciate them, genuinely, because what we have is because of them. If you don't have the fans, you don't got nothin'. They're the game, and that's the bottom line."

Why are they talking about generations of fans?
Because Young Maylay sees it at every convention. As he tells it, his queue is mostly veterans: "Right now, I got all the OGs. Everybody coming in my line, you catch some youngsters, but you got guys with the grey hair coming in saying, 'Hey man! You're the guy, CJ!'" The GTA 5 cast, on the other hand, gets the younger crowd.
His takeaway is a message for the newcomers and, while he's at it, for his own fans: every generation of players grows up with its own characters, and GTA 6 won't erase the old ones. "We'll always be those characters, and you can't take that from us," he said.
It makes sense. San Andreas came out in 2004 and GTA 5 in 2013: between the two, and now with GTA 6, the series has kept adding audiences that don't always overlap.
What about Trevor?
Steven Ogg, Trevor's actor, was also part of the interview, according to IGN, but the outlet doesn't quote any advice from him. Which fits his stance: in 2025 he said GTA 6 made him feel "nothing inside" because he's "not a gamer" and has "never played a video game".
He did have an idea for the handover, though: killing Trevor off at the start of GTA 6. "Pass the torch, stomp Trevor's head in, and sort of put an end to that and allow a new generation to take over," he suggested, as a way of thanking the fans and closing a chapter. Rockstar hasn't said anything about cameos from the GTA 5 protagonists.
Who plays Jason and Lucia?
Rockstar hasn't announced it, which is why the advice is aimed at actors with no names. It's the studio's usual policy: it doesn't confirm its cast before launch. We covered it in detail in who's tipped to play Jason and Lucia.
What does seem clear is that Fonteno's advice is no joke. GTA 6 comes out on 19 November and Rockstar has already turned Miami into Vice City, with the Heat dressed up as Vice City the night before launch and even a real Burger Shot at their arena. If Franklin and Michael still get stopped in the street twelve years on, Jason and Lucia are in for something similar, or more.
